Making Technology Work, For you

I was one of the first in my group of friends to have a home computer. We mostly played basic games or used some early pixel-art programs, but in my free time I would open it up and look at the components. How these small green boards turned my movements and ideas into something visible on the screen amazed me. I tinkered with this PC, as well as the next few, before building my own from scratch. The go-to for family and friends for all computer and technology needs. This passion followed me from my work with the Boy Scouts of America to a  New York State University medical center. I would not only understand the technology and what it did, but help others make it works for them. Technology is rapidly changing and it can be exhausting to stay on top of it all. More importantly is being able to explain it without all of the jargon while still getting the core facts across to less tech-savvy individuals and businesses.

Technology is my core and what I truly love. Let me help you figure out exactly what you need and how best to get there.

Experience

EDI, LTD. New York, IT Project Manager & Consultant

March 2018 - Present

After gaining an understanding for how healthcare organizations run and the behind the scenes needs, I found that I truly loved running projects and guiding departments and groups towards their full potential. My current role has me working throughout the northeast not only as a project manager for a wide variety of jobs, but as a consultant and strategic planner. The project management side allows me to see entire high rises get built and populated with the latest that technology has to offer. My strategic visioning allows me to help organizations plan for the future and place themselves in a spot that allows them to make use of technologies that aren't even on the market yet.

It's a great feeling to be able to work with so many talented individuals across the region and see the transformations that we are able to accomplish together. The dynamic landscape of technology can be daunting, but at the same time it is an incredible and nearly limitless future. Sometimes all it needs is proper guidance and implementation to make an organization's wish-list become a reality.

Stony Brook Medicine, New York, Systems & Data Center Administrator

January 2014 - March 2018

My love for technology and experience with faculties infrastructure allowed me to take on a new role running day-to-day operations of the data center at Stony Brook Medicine. I started with racking of network and storage gear, as well as replacing CRAC units, leak detection, and installation of environmental monitoring. This opened my eyes to the networking and systems side as I worked with these teams, and I slowly found my way getting further involved with systems and technology. I moved on to improvements to make not only my own, but the organization's workflow easier. I implemented a Data Center Infrastructure Management program, allowing multiple alerting systems to be seen in one dashboard. This also allowed for better asset management and room planning as I led a multi-million dollar renovation of the room, an interdepartmental effort that finished both on time and under budget.

As this room came together I took on more systems focused responsibilities, starting with Tier 1 support for the organization across a myriad of systems including Active Directory, Office 365, vCenter and our virtual environment, Citrix, Cerner, VoIP systems, mobile devices, and just about anything else needed to support the hospital campus. Being able to work with so many systems made me a valuable resource and helped me see how every department needed to function, and how to best provide for them from a technology standpoint.

Boy Scouts of America, New York, Director of Buildings and Grounds

June 2010 - August 2013

An operation only runs as smoothly as its back-end infrastructure and support. While overseeing nearly 200 acres of property and a staff of fifty, I was able to seamlessly allow program and activities for all guests to occur without a gap or delay. Whether this meant maintaining the vehicle fleet, running the commercial kitchen, improving electrical and water systems, or dealing with vendors for all needs, I did it with a smile. The 'behind the scenes' work is often hidden and some feel overlooked in this capacity. To me though it was being the grease that helped keep all of the gears turning and it set the foundation for my future roles.

Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding.
